Susan Gill has been involved with ASK in various capacities since its beginning. She was an active board member when ASK became a non-profit organization in 1998. She has also served as an ASK volunteer and has worked with the FIND and Transition Projects in the past. Susan is happy to have recently returned to ASK as an F2F and PTI Family Support Coordinator. She has over 20 years of experience as an advocate for individuals with special needs. Prior to returning to ASK, Susan served for numerous years as a Parent Educator Connection (PEC) staff member for the Des Moines school district.

Monica Rouse currently works part time as the Dispute Resolution Coordinator. She has 21 years of experience in the public education system, 5 as a classroom teacher and the remaining as an administrator at the middle school and high school levels. She and her husband have two children, one of whom has a congenital vision impairment. Monica works with ASK out of a desire to reach a wide base of parents, teachers, and administrators, and to provide support for all entities who serve children with special needs.

After many hours of fact-finding meetings and brainstorming, they came to the decision to form a non-profit resource center. The center was formally named Access for Special Kids Resource Center (ASK). ASK Resource Center would serve persons with special needs, their families, as well as the professional community. This commitment began to grow! The two parents recruited others, formed a board of directors and began to loan materials and answer the phones from their homes.
