Aspera, Inc. develops breakthrough software transfer technologies to achieve optimal performance and cost savings using existing Internet (IP) networks. The name Aspera was selected by the company’s co-founders, Michelle Munson (originally from Kansas USA) and Serban Simu (originally from Bucharest, Romania), to express the universal ideals of hope and aspiration through challenges. From the Latin roots "asper" meaning "rough" or "hard", and "spera" meaning "hope", and mottos like "ad astra per aspera" (to the stars through hard ways), Aspera is descriptive of the company’s aspiration to create substantial core technologies that solve the difficult problems in network data delivery.
