Shelley knew early on in her freshman year of college that she was destined to build a career in the educational and human services field. Shelley's career path all started with a volunteer job in which she did pool therapy for two wonderful children with special needs as well as an amazing group of stroke victims. All of Shelley's personal and career experiences has lead to her position today as owner and operator of Lasting Impressions. Shelley holds a degree in Psychology from the University of St. Catherine and has been working with children ages 2-17 for over ten years. In addition to her years of experience in child development, she has experience working with both adults and children with special needs.

The loving and nurturing environment created by parents in their child’s first few months is critical to setting the framework for positive development later on in their child’s life. At Lasting Impressions we understand just how important the first months of a child’s life are to his/her overall development, and we have created a program that guarantees your child’s basic needs are met while at the same time ensuring that through an attentive and affirming relationship we will meet all of the needs of your child: physical, emotional, and intellectual.

We believe a child learns through play and socialization and that play is an indicator of mental growth. At Lasting Impressions we provide for all areas of a child's physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development. The individual needs and interests of each child are the basis for a balanced program of child-initiated, child-directed, teacher supported play.

As early childhood educators, we have the important task of helping to foster early cognitive and social development by knowing how to enable children to reach their fullest potential. It is our mission to not only provide a childcare setting where each child is allowed to express his or her own uniqueness and independence in an affirming environment, but also to ensure that the environment is supported by a staff that is equally committed to the highest quality standards.
