Even then, leaving the hustle and bustle of the big city was a welcomed treat. In Atkinson, many a traveler by stagecoach stopped and stayed at John Merrill's Inn and Tavern. The spirit of hospitality continues on the property today as The Atkinson Resort & Country Club.Nestled on over 400 acres in beautiful Atkinson, New Hampshire, is a multi-story, 75,000 sq. ft., majestic post and beam building that overlooks the 18 th hole of a true championship golf course.The course opened in 1996 with a modest clubhouse. During the past five years, owner and developer Peter Lewis of Lewis Builders Development and East Coast Lumber, has built his vision of a beautiful resort facility, with amenities seldom seen outside the private club arena. The entire complex is open to the public for golf, lunch and dinner as well as private events in five luxurious function rooms. Our Fieldstone Suites provide guests with on-site hotel rooms, many of which (along with the meeting rooms, the ballrooms and restaurant), overlook the golf course.
