Besides the rewarding nature of our work and the comfortable work environment, ARS provides a number of other attractive benefits, among which are: Title: Assistant/Associate Physicist Type: Full or Part Time Location: Bethel Park, PA August Research Systems, Incorporated (ARS) seeks entry level applicants or degreed professionals with 0 –5 years experience. The Assistant or Associate Physicist will possess a bachelor ’s or master ’s degree in Physics. Duties will include conducting research related to materials, coatings, and manufacturing methods for advanced electromagnetic, optical, and acoustic applications within the Department of Defense. The Assistant/Associate Physicist will generate and run computer models and simulations that predict material performance based on design choices and intrinsic material properties. The successful candidate will be expected to analyze results of modeling runs and compare these with experimental measurements on analogous systems. He/She will design experiments aimed at testing theoretical predictions and will compose test plans and participate in experiments at Government and Contractor laboratories. The Assistant/Associate Physicist will reduce, organize, analyze, and report upon data gathered from experiments. Excellent writing and presentation skills are a must. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and must qualify for a Security Clearance. Required skills include high-level programming, proficiency with Microsoft Office, solid knowledge of statistics, calculus, and linear algebra, and proficiency with a mathematical programming package such as MathCad or Mathematica. This position may begin part-time or full-time, but ARS anticipates needing full-time support within 6 months of start.
