Mr. Barnett’s career spans over 35 years in marketing, advertising, art and design. His experience includes fine art as an accomplished painter with many one man and group exhibitions and work in over 100 private and corporate collections. Time spent in the concert promotion business honed his promotional and PR skills and a three-year stint as owner and director of one of Tacoma’s first fine art galleries added additional management, promotional and advertising knowledge. Mr. Barnett then spent 11 years on the client side of the desk in the corporate world. This began as a freelance Art Director for Bozel & Jacobs in 1970. In 1972 he joined Weyerhaeuser Corporation as a designer and staff artist. At Weyerhaeuser he was promoted to Director of Graphics for senior management presentations in 1973. In late 1974 he moved to Nalley’s Foods and created the first in-house art department later becoming Director of Marketing Services overseeing new products introductions, package design, marketing and merchandising support for retail, private label and foodservice. This included the national roll out of Bernstein’s Salad Dressing and many successful new brand & product introductions. Offered a Creative Director position in 1980 he moved on to Vantage Advertising, Seattle. His work at Vantage included creating campaigns and promotions for Ghirardelli Chocolate, Golden Grain, Mission and numerous other accounts. In 1981 he left the Seattle agency and formed his own firm in Tacoma Washington. Today he works from his office on Fox Island Washington.
