Description

In December 2009 Aurora announced that South Florida-and-San Francisco-based LifeTech_Capital joined the firm as an independent division of Aurora's investment banking group. The new division is led by Robert D. Keyser, CEO of LifeTech Capital and Senior Managing Director of Investment Banking, and Stephen M. Dunn, President of LifeTech Capital and Senior Managing Director of Research. The LifeTech Capital division provides PIPE, overnight, and registered direct finance opportunities to the firm's corporate finance clients, and provides research for public distribution. LifeTech Capital also participates in Aurora's earlier-stage transactions. Mr. Keyser and Mr. Dunn have developed widely-respected reputations while at their previous leadership positions at Dawson James Securities and Jesup & Lamont, respectively. The LifeTech Capital team, is currently comprised of four individuals, with over 50 years of combined experience in the sector.

Aurora is based in New York City, with offices in Rockland County, New York, San Francisco, California and Boca Raton, Florida. We are dedicated to serving life science companies and their investors as well as our customers’ general investing needs. We seek to: (i) provide valuable or undiscovered investment opportunities to our investing clients and (ii) provide high quality service to a corporate finance client base which may be overlooked or underserved by the major and regional investment banking organizations primarily due to company or transaction size.

Our mission is to provide valuable or undiscovered investment opportunities to our investing clients. These opportunities may arise from any of our four lines of business: Life Sciences Investment Banking, Life Sciences Research, Public Securities Brokerage, or our Hedge Fund and Direct Participation Program Group. We seek to provide high quality service to a corporate finance client base which may be overlooked or underserved by the major and regional investment banking organizations primarily due to company or transaction size.

Our founders believe in long term relationships and the guiding principle of the firm is to provide a hands on, creative approach to meeting each corporate finance client’s needs. We believe that companies in the life science markets are best served by advisors, our investment bankers, who have the ability to think strategically, to think beyond a financing or an M&A transaction, and who take a long term view of every relationship. Unlike most investment banks, there are almost no companies that are too small, too early or whose individual transactions are too small. We make the investment in these early relationships when we believe that there is a potential for growth and when we believe we can successfully provide service of value. We do hope that our investment banking/strategic advisory clients outgrow us and that the rest of Wall Street will fall in love with them. If that happens, our early investment in time and in the relationship will have paid off for our corporate finance clients, generally for our investors and hopefully for us.
