Credit unions are owned by their members and based on the principle of "people helping people". Credit unions have no outside stockholders. After reserves are set aside, earnings are returned to members in the form of dividends on savings, lower loan rates, or additional services.Aurora Federal Credit Union (AFCU) was chartered in 1968 by the employees of the City of Aurora. Any employee, retired employee or volunteer of the City or relative of an eligible individual may join. Through the years the membership has been expanded to serve other select employee groups who did not have the benefit of credit union servicesOur mission at AFCU is to provide our members with convenient and personalized services at the best possible value while maintaining sound financial stability.
