Everyone will tell you that they give free estimates. However, when you drive your car into a mechanics shop for a free estimate it will end up costing you something . Why? It's a service and it costs money to provide and render services of any kind. It wouldn't be any different if the mechanic or a contractor drives to your location to provide a free esimate or quote on your property. Many of these estimates are given verbally... and therefore, their quote is NOT legally binding. Meaning, you may later get the bill, only to find you have been charged twice the verbal quote. So much for the free estimate.
