Avenues develops employment opportunities, on-the-job training and support services for persons employed in the community. We provide job searching, application and interviewing skills, and job coaches on a limited basis. We strive to develop a good match between the employer, the employee and co-workers for the best outcome. We currently have 60 people in our job placement program. Since 1977, Avenues has been providing capable, dependable and dedicated workers to Chicago area businesses.

Charlie has been a part of the Avenues family for over 33 years, and in many ways he and members of the Avenues family have literally grown up together. In fact, when Charlie left a large care facility to become an Avenues resident in 1980, Residential Director Floyd Kortenhof had just joined Avenues a year earlier. Through the years, Charlie and Floyd have shared a special bond, and until Charlie was recently reunited with his sister, his roommates and friends at Avenues were the closest thing to family he knew.

Avenues Contract Packaging operates a modern 48,000 SF work center for adults with developmental disabilities. We are located in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago in Wheeling, Illinois. In satisfying our workers needs for productive paying jobs, we provide the business community with a host of packaging and assembly services.

At Avenues to Independence, we provide homes, jobs, and social opportunities to hundreds of adults with autism, cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome and other physical, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities so they can live and work in the community with independence and dignity.
