Description

AVGSL's main goal is to insure that the players are in a fun, positive environment while learning and expanding their softball skills. AVGSL promotes a sense of belonging for everyone. We emphasize teamwork and the sense of individual success that contribute to team sports. No player will sit out more than 2 innings during a game, thereby providing a player to make contributions to their team and participate in a large part of all activities. Come join the fun!!! Almaden Valley Girls Softball League PO Box 20642 San Jose, CA 95160 (408) 808-1405 www.avgsl.org Welcome to the Almaden Valley Girls Softball League! Last Day for AVGSL Registration is January 23rd!!! AVGSL utilizes an online registration system. This will make the registration process easier for all. We are using the same provider that AVYSL has been using for years, so those familiar with soccer registration should feel right at home. AVGSL is a 100% volunteer run league. This year we've eliminated the Volunteer buy-out fee and ask that every family volunteer to support the league. We really need help in the Snack Shack. Information on volunteer opportunities will be sent out soon. You can also encourage friends and family members who don't have children playing in the league to volunteer. Registration will remain open until January 23, 2010. (pending availability, late registration may continue beyond that with a $25 late fee) For more detailed information regarding the online registration system, age requirements, etc, click the AVGSL 2010 Registration page . Coaches: We need you! Without Coaches we would not have a softball league. Without the opportunity to meet and talk to potential coaches at registration, we won’t be able to recruit as we have in the past. So please consider volunteering to coach. AVGSL provides training, support and resources to help all coaches be successful and to create a positive environment for their players. So don't delay, since you're already online, Click here to get started! For any questions regarding league registration, scheduling, age requirements or coaching in the AVGSL, email Registrar@avgsl.org . Free Clinics For Almaden Players and Coaches. This clinic has been a favorite the past few years with many players, coaches, and parents. The girls will be divided into two sessions by age groups so that they will receive age-appropriate instruction, and get to spend quality time on the field with the Broncos players. Bring your glove and cleats (tennis shoes ~OK) also bring your helmet and bat if you would like. If you can't make the appropriate session you can come to the other session with the understanding it might not be skill level appropriate. Coaches Practice/Pitching Clinic - Saturday, January 30th at Bret Harte This clinic will be taught by Cutting Edge Softball . In this clinic, coaches will learn the basics of how to run a practice along with some practice drills they can use. They will also learn to coach their team's pitchers utilizing the fundamentals of the wind-mill style pitching motion. Players Pitching Clinic - Saturday, February 6th at Bret Harte Player Evaluation Day for the 10U and 12U Divisions Sunday, 24-Jan, is Player Evaluation Day, it will be held at Bret Harte MS Field 6 , closest to the snack shack. The purpose of Player Evaluation Days is so that the 10U and 12U Coaches can evaluate all of the Players in their division in order to draft teams of equal strength. This is NOT a tryout as every girl that signs-up will play. Each Player will get a chance to field ground balls, throw, catch and run. Any girl interested in pitching will have a chance to pitch as well, we encourage anyone that wants to pitch. Each player should come with her glove and cleats (if at all possible, otherwise tennis shoes are OK), also bring your helmet and bat if you'd like. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your start time so that you can check-in and warm up. You will be assigned a number at check-in. The day is broken up into 4 timeslots and you only have to attend your time slot. If you have a conflict please let us know ASAP.
