Aviation Classics' origins go back to 1979, when Al Redick Sr. traveled from California to Reno in a pickup truck to help restore a World War II Lockheed P-38 Lightning for Frank Taylor, the former owner of the famous Reno air racer "Dago Red". He stayed in Reno opening a business called CIA Aviation, which his sons purchased in 1987 renaming Aviation Classics LTD.
