The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is the leading organization committed to finding new therapies and alternately a cure for CF, and improving the lives of those with the disease. CF is a life threatening genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive systems of approximately 30,000 children and adults in the United States. To advance the search for a cure, the Foundation funds promising scientific research at medical centers and biotech companies nationwide. To ensure that people with CF receive state of the art diagnosis and care, the Foundation supports and accredits more than 115 treatment centers across the country. To continue CF's lifesaving mission, CF depends on the generosity of individual donors and corporations. Support is critical to ensuring that vital CF research moves forward. Working together we can give children and adults with CF the quality of life and the future that they deserve. It is important to note that CFF is one of the most efficient voluntary health care organizations in the country as $.90 of each dollar raised goes directly into research and services to improve the lives of patients suffering with CF. We are pleased to report that over the past 27 years many advances have been made to improve the quality of life of CF patients and the life expectancy of a child diagnosed with CF has improved from 10 years to 37.5 years. The Baltimore Community Foundation receives the proceeds from Pam Shriver's annual Tennis Challenge, and administers the grants made from the Tennis Challenge Fund. The Tennis Challenge Fund is one of more than 500 different charitable funds administered by BCF, which raises, manages and distributes funds for charitable purposes in the Greater Baltimore region. The Baltimore Community Foundation receives the proceeds from Pam Shriver's annual Tennis Challenge, and administers the grants made from the Tennis Challenge Fund. The Tennis Challenge Fund is one of more than 600 different charitable funds administered by BCF, which raises, manages and distributes funds for charitable purposes in the Greater Baltimore region. The Baltimore Community Foundation is the third largest grantmaker among Maryland's charitable foundations, with distributions in 2009 of $22 million to hundreds of nonprofit organizations in the Baltimore region and beyond. With assets of $149 million, BCF comprises more than 600 different charitable funds. The Baltimore Community Foundation invites donors to Invest in Baltimore ® by supporting BCF's work to stimulate economic development and reduce poverty in our region. BCF also offers donors a complete toolkit for charitable giving, expert assistance in learning more about the causes they care about, and the opportunity to join others with similar interests to learn and give together.
