Mr. Backlund currently owns two companies: Backlund Associates, Ltd (a management consulting firm) and Backlund & Crawford, Ltd (a marketing and relationship building company). Over the years he has enjoyed a varied and an increasingly prominent career in the management of service businesses. From education to employee benefits, mergers and acquisitions to new product launches, Paul has successfully directed sizable organizations in the achievement of their profit and performance objectives. Paul began his career with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company where he served seven years in multiple claims adjudication areas. He joined City Colleges of Chicago as Vice President of Administration in 1972 and later served as the Director of Benefits at American Hospital Supply Company. Subsequently, he served as Principal Consultant for The Wyatt Company, A. Foster Higgins & Company and Aon Consulting Group. In the early 1990 ’s, Paul became Managing Director of the Chicago office of the Alexander Consulting Group. Paul then joined The Signature Group in 1994 as Senior Vice President, Strategic Planning & New Business Development. With a MBA from Northwestern University ’s Kellogg School and a Bachelor of Arts degree from North Park University, Paul continues to enjoyed an academic career as an Adjunct Professor teaching at North Park University and Keller's Graduate School of Management.
