Nearing its centennial, Bakersfield College is one of the oldest community colleges in the nation, having been founded in 1913. It is one of the three colleges of the Kern Community College District and part of the California system of 112 such colleges. Bakersfield College serves a diverse population of over 26,000 students on the 153-acre Panorama Drive (primary) Campus, at the Weill Institute in downtown Bakersfield, at the Delano Center 35 miles to the north, and at various outreach sites.
