Maine Gold was born as we made maple syrup with teenagers on the coast of Maine in the late winter of 1976. Sugaring was a way to keep young minds and bodies focused in the outdoors. From those first sap haulings, a whole lot has changed.Maine Gold is now a small team of dedicated staff who run a thoughtful and responsible business. We care about the quality of our products, the people who buy them and how we recycle. We are generous to local nonprofits, provide a nurturing work environment, and use an adult sheltered workshop to make our gift containers.Years ago we set out to become the most widely recognized producer of maple products in Maine. Last year, deciding that we had succeeded at our mission, we refocused on our gift market. Our goal is to become the most responsive gift service in Maine with Gifts Direct, our comprehensive gift service. Our underlying principles are the same. We produce and package quality gifts that are environmentally friendly and healthy, create jobs in Maine, operate with honesty and integrity, develop long-term relationships with our customers, and recycle like crazy!
