In September of 1995, after passing both the Wyoming and Colorado bar exams, Cody began his legal career as an associate with Reeves & Murdock, a law firm in Casper, Wyoming. Nick Murdock started his own law firm--Nick Murdock & Associates, P.C.--in January of 1996 and Cody joined that firm as an associate. In 1999, Cody became a shareholder in Nick Murdock & Associates, P.C. In 2001 and after Mark Carman joined the firm, the firm changed the name to Balzer Carman Murdock, P.C. In 2004, Balzer Carman Murdock, LLC was started wherein the three shareholders practiced law together until 2005. In 2005 and after 10 years of law practice in Casper, Wyoming, Cody relocated to Loveland, Colorado. This relocation was so his wife--Jennifer--could finish her schooling at the University of Northern Colorado. Due to the relocation, Cody, Nick & Mark determined clients could be better served by working together on cases rather than within the same firm. As such, in 2005 Cody began operating as Balzer Law Firm, P.C. He is co-counsel in various case with Nick and Mark in Wyoming, Colorado, Arizona and Kansas.
