Banner Mattress started in Toledo in 1929 as a mattress manufacturer. Over time the company developed into a mattress manufacturer and retailer.
Founded in 1947, the Cherry Street Mission provides food, clothing, emergency shelter, transitional housing, and more to the poor and homeless in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. In 2008, Banner Mattress donated the building at the original Monroe Street location, which the Mission used to open its LifeBridge Center to house clothing and furniture. In the past, Banner has also donated mattress covers to the Ministries, enough to cover all the shelter’s beds.
