On the first phase of the Hyperion Wastewater Treatment Plant in Los Angeles, nearly 8000 tons of rebar out of 12,000 were in the Digester Foundation and Supporting Circular Walls - 24 Digester Tanks in all. Barlines and the Fabricator teamed up to design a rig to support both cages of the supporting walls, that will hold its shape, be lifted in place and can be quickly detached. 1400 lbs per man day placing rebar quickly doubled. At the Staples Center, home of the Lakers Basketball Team in Los Angeles - the structural engineers design was cast in place. The owner wanted the job fast-tracked and to do so, the general contractors elected to precast some of the structural elements to meet schedule. Barlines worked hand in hand with the engineers in detailing the job according to proposed revisions, while construction was in progress. Cooperation rather confrontation became the key. In the second ENRON corporate building, the first blast resistant bldg. after the Oklahoma disaster combines reinforced concrete and structural steel. From the ground to the eight floor - structural steel columns were encased in rebar cages tied together with #5 Hoops that had to go through structural steel Beams.
