Philadelphia Penn Publishing Company 1938 1st Edition Hardcover Collectible-Very Good Book Burke, Dr. Edgar Publisher's cloth binding with gilt lettering and small illustration of fishing fly on front cover. Opposite title page - black and white photograph of author tying a fly with facsimile of author's autograph. 16 color plates, complete, of different flies, 25 inline diagrams drawn by Ivin Sickles, 7 black and white photographs of fly tying, taken by Charles S. Krug. 451 pages with table "Full Description of Flies Shown in Color Plates". John Raymond "Ray" Bergman was the angling editor for the magazine "Outdoor Life" for 26 years and a noted authority on fly fishing. This book has the distinction of being the only fishing book in print continuously for over 50 years. At the time of publication, this book contained the largest collection of illustrated fishing flies ever published.
No Binding Collectible-Very Good Print Circa 1825. 8 x 11 inch hand colored steel engraving of the plant Solanum Tuberosum, the wild potato. Evidence of having been glued on back. In upper right corner, printed "Hort. Trans. Vol. V Pl. 11", meaning its from "The Transactions of the Horticultural Society", Volume V, Plate 11. This is the journal of the Horticultural Society of London, founded in 1804 and now known as the Royal Horticultural Society. Its known for its lovely illustrations of plants and flowers.

The collection consists of advertising mailings, sent out by nine different "art film and photography" pornography firms. Chicago: Chicago Import Co.; Bantam Productions; Falstaff Productions; Vernon Films Inc. Hollywood: Art Films De Luxe; Art Guild Associates; Novel Arts and Action Products; M. Rosenthal Presenting. Evansville, Ind: The Alpha Company, Art film Division. About six of the companies advertise themselves as "art films and photograph" companies and three are more explicit in their advertising. There appears to be some effort in the advertising not to incur the wrath of censors. None of the advertising is seriously overboard. Stereograph on gray board (7 x 3 1/2 inch) with commentary on the backside about the state capital of Arequipa, founded in 1540 by Pizarro to control the southern area of the Inca Empire, and Monte Misti (19,200 ft). The town was leveled in 1868 by earthquakes and was rebuilt from the rubble. Nice view of the town plaza and the main cathedral looking towards the towering Monte Misti, snowcovered in the background. Fine copy.
