Description

Basin Geophysical LLC began in 1992 when Independent Oil Exploration Company, Walter Exploration, Inc., wanted 3D seismic data over its 3.0 square mile lease in Nolan Co., Texas. Responses from the large seismic companies were not encouraging, a nine month lead time for a price that would have paid for the first wellbore! Knowing that there were several more similar sized prospects needing 3D data, a plan was formed to assemble the equipment and begin shooting seismic to fulfill the immediate and future needs. The struggling project proved successful, leading to several prolific wells, and identification of a new zone. With the concept proven, the in-house experiment morphed into a full fledged company, whose goal was to bring quality low cost 3D seismic data to other Independent Oil Exploration companies in need. Basin has acquired data all over Texas and in six other states, aiding in the discovery of numerous oil and gas fields. Basin Geophysical LLC is entirely independent of Walter Exploration Inc., (and its related business) and continues to act as a standalone contract seismic service company.
