Description

Dawn Valadez has worked in the non-profit sector for over 20 years as a social worker, media maker, trainer, public art creator, consultant and fundraiser. Dawn produced and co-directed the award-winning documentary GOING ON 13 with Kristy Guevara-Flanagan. Dawn also co-authored the 38-page study guide that accompanies the film and has led youth and adult dialogues on the issues the film raises. Dawn was a 2012 MediaMaker Fellow at BAVC, during which time she workshopped her new work-in-progress, TURN IT AROUND, and related cross-platform project.

Mindy leads the team that provides all adult training and technology education to digital media professionals, educators, artists and mediamakers, independent producers, dislocated workers and job seekers. The scope of this department includes over 600 classes annually, as well as custom classes, and the California state-funded Employment Training Panel contract. Previously the Director of Business Development, she forged partnerships with corporations and government for BAVC, strategized marketing and public relations efforts and planned for product development.
