Most of you know us pretty well, but you may not all know the whole story. Here are some details in case you're curious... Scott was born in Atlanta, GA and then spent a few years in Ft. Collins, Colorado before moving to Beaverton. He claims to have wanted to get a PhD in computer science since he was 3 and spent quite a bit of time in his youth teaching himself to program and "exploring" all things mechanical (exploring is code for dismantling). He attended Hiteon Elementary School and Conestoga Middle School before going to Beaverton High School. At Beaverton he was on the track team where he did triple, long, and high jump and also high and long hurdles. When I met him he was also a pretty serious sports fan cheering for the Beavs and also Blazers, Braves, Yellow Jackets, and Broncos. After graduating in 2000, Scott went to Georgia Tech in Atlanta for his BS in computer science and graduated in 2004. In college he got his research start working in the Aware home at GT. He also took up sports photography and got to be on the sidelines for some exciting games. He is now finishing his third year in a PhD program in computer science at University of Washington. This summer he is interning at Microsoft Research. Scott has played golf since middle school, but has taken it to new levels in the past few years. His crowning achievement this year was a hole in one at the Greenlake Pitch'n'Put and he golfs whenever he gets the chance. He also still enjoys photography, although he has mostly transitioned from sports photography to wildlife.
