Description

This project is a LEED certified, urban infill development constructed on top of an existing building in downtown Seattle. It comprises 50 units of clean and sober housing for individuals recovering from alcohol and substance abuse. Project Description: Traugott Terrace adds 50 new units of space on top of the Matt Talbot Center. Studios average 350 square feet, one-bedrooms 550 square feet, and SROs 250 square feet. The transitional units are located on the second floor, which includes several common areas: a kitchen, a meeting room and offices. Each SRO has its own three-quarter bathroom with shower and sink, and a small kitchen area with refrigerator and microwave. The studio and one-bedroom apartments are on the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth floors and are standard apartments with full kitchens and bathrooms. There is a common room for residents of the permanent housing and a kitchenette for community meetings on the mezzanine level overlooking the lobby. Environmentally-friendly and sustainable features include an energy efficient tractionless elevator, upgraded windows, energy efficient lighting, low-flow plumbing fixtures and natural linoleum flooring. Residents Served: Traugott Terrace provides clean and sober housing for individuals with incomes up to 30% AMI, including 12 units for homeless individuals. The primary target population is people in recovery from alcohol and substance abuse. A large majority of the residents have been homeless at some time prior to moving into Traugott Terrace.
