Welcome to BMI's Website home of the steel guitar developed by none other than Mr. Zane Beck. We have carried on the tradition of building fine steel guitars following the guidelines of Zane himself. We are proud of our many years of service to such greats as Zane Beck, Speedy West, and Julian Tharp to name a few.......... At the heart of BMI is the man that has been with BMI for 27 years, Mr. Don Fritche. Don was the unsung hero behind the scenes doing all of the building for BMI while Zane was alive. Don has carried on the tradition of BMI by continuing to build fine pedal steel guitars in the spirit and tradition of Zane Beck. At BMI we take pride in our pedal steel guitars and each one is built rock solid. What do we offer that the others may not? Our Single neck guitars use the same parts regardless of the model. There is no such thing as a "Student Model" at BMI. We don't sell student models. We only sell pro models. On all of our single models you can add floors and knees to them which is not the case with some companies. We use the same floor pedals and mechanics on a double neck that we do on a single neck. Now, that's not to say that there isn't differences in the hardware when it comes to special build to order. Some want a specific pickup, some want Quad-Raise Changers, etc., so there are differences concerning that.
