1000 Bikes Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in April 2010 by Michael “CoolAssMike” Bowers, who grew up in various foster homes across NY. 1000 Bikes is dedicated to giving bikes to 1000 foster youth across the United States. They’re a cycling advocacy group that intends to get more people riding bikes in a fun, safe manner. 1000 Bikes is running a helmet awareness and Education Traveling Exhibit.
Grind For Life Inc. was founded in 2003 by life long skateboarder Mike Rogers after his second battle with sarcoma cancer. He defeated cancer once as a pre-teen and again 25 years later. Mike beat the odds and is skateboarding competitively again. The mission of the Grind For Life organization is to provide financial assistance to cancer patients and their families when traveling long distances to doctors and hospitals. In addition, they educate and inspire these patients and families concerning cancer survival and recovery.
The New York Bicycle Messenger Foundation was established in 2003 as a federal and state not for profit 501(c)(3) corporation. It is an all-volunteer organization, staffed soley by current and former messengers. Our mission is simple, to support the New York City messenger community. That assistance may be realized in many ways. From providing financial support to injured messengers, to nurturing programs that assist in the research or advancement of the messenger work force.
