Description
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Negative emotions and memories are worked through as you work together with me to eliminate trauma and evoke your own self healing process. EMDR is used for emotional situations that we keep reliving over and over again and for traumatic events. The actual method appears very simple, i.e. either holding small vibrating painless pulsars in your hands, or having the therapist tap lightly on your hands or knees, or following two fingers of the therapist with your eyes. Prior, you are given simple directions and then told to "trace back the feeling". What makes this very unique process work is that by using bilateral stimulation (right and left brains), emotional issues and traumas that have been blocked for months, years, or all of your life, are now cleared up. The traumatic memory that caused the re-experiencing does not go away, but is now just a bad memory and not part of a frequent and never ending way of dealing with a negative event. I use EMDR with traditional psychotherapy and with other alternative methods as determined to be most therapeutic. I have been using EMDR since 1995.
