Description

Dave Devol joined BGI in 1998 as an operational analyst in support of multiple training and technical projects. He graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy with a BS in Astronautical Engineering and did graduate work at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Mechanical Engineering. He is an instructor and flight examiner with over 5,000 flight hours, including more than 2,000 hours in the F-16 aircraft. He has combat experience in Operations Desert Storm, Southern and Northern Watch, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. His military career also included Forward Air Control experience in the O-2 and OV-10 aircraft, and spanned a wide range of operational leadership positions. He recently retired from the Air National Guard as a Lieutenant Colonel after more than 23 years of combined active duty and reserve service. Since joining BGI, Dave has co-authored several industry papers, and has served as a member of two I/ITSEC sub-committees: Education and Simulation. As company President, he maintains responsibility for refining our products, services and processes as well as the shaping of new business pursuits.

Phil Dismukes founded BGI in 1994. His vision of supporting “end user customer requirements” by investing the time and effort of operationally experienced personnel in industry products early in the engineering development cycle was the backbone of the original business model. In 2001, Phil reorganized BGI as a partnership with Dave, Eric, and Chris bringing together a small business leadership team unmatched in industry. Phil graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy with a BS in Engineering and is a graduate of the USAF Fighter Weapons School Instructor Course. Recently retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, he flew the F-16 throughout his 23+ years of Air Force and Air National Guard service. He also has combat experience in Operations Desert Storm, Southern Watch, and Northern Watch. As the Chief Executive Officer of BGI, Phil uses his combination of military leadership and industry experience to oversee the company’s long term business strategy, and promote a successful and rewarding workplace for his people. Phil challenges all his employees to accomplish the BGI core purpose and live out the company core values.

Quality is built into the BGI processes that are part of the BGI work environment. BGI employees receive several briefings during the hiring and orientation process to provide a clear level of understanding of BGI’s expectations and processes and what constitutes BGI quality products and services. In addition to these initial briefings, employees receive periodic refresher briefings and training to re-emphasize BGI expectations and to inform them of developments and changes in BGI processes that affect their day-to-day work activities. On the program side, periodic program meetings are conducted where quality issues are presented and addressed, including action items or discrepancies involving product or service quality. All of these communication venues ensure that a quality mindset is instilled into BGI employees and is maintained within each and every BGI employee throughout their careers at BGI.

BGI began in 1994 as a small consulting firm that provided instructor-experienced fighter pilot expertise to simulation and training programs, primarily under subcontract to major defense contractors. Our business grew around this core competency, while expanding into areas such as courseware development and contract instruction. Since the 2005 timeframe, BGI has successfully integrated additional capabilities to include systems and software engineering as well as program and project management. Today, our work spans the continuum from subcontractor to value-added teammate, and into the role of prime government contractor.
