Description

Go check out one of the first parks of its kind, the Mesa Verde National Park was established by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1906 to preserve the works of man. The park occupies over 52,000 acres of the Colorado Plateau. With over 4,700 archeological sites, Mesa Verde is a great reminder of ancient culture. Over 1,400 years ago an ancient civilization called the Ancestral Puebloans thrived in the area for over 700 years. When the civilization left the area they left behind evidence of advanced understanding in both architecture and agriculture.
