BME Systems Inc., the parent company of BioCollection Management applies biomedical engineering principles and techniques -- combining electronic, mechanical, computer and information science disciplines -- to provide solutions to real-world problems in medical research and the biotechnology industry. The company has been in business for 20 years. In 1995, BME Systems proposed a system to manage the data, access and storage requirements for replicating biological organisms to a Fortune 500 microbiology company. The system was developed, installed, and successfully validated. In 2000 fault tolerant, multi-site communication and reporting was added to the application. Today the system tracks the access of thousands of different organisms and 50,000 vial accesses per year at 5 campus locations. BioCollection Management was formed to provide services and tools to a wider range of applications for tracking and storing biological organisms and their data. We have retained the fundamental organization principles of the original application while writing a completely new suite of functional software components that fulfill the requirements of many microbiological environments in both academia and industry.
