Birds-Eye.Net was formed April 20, 2000. The initial motivation of creating Birds-Eye.Net was to help broadband operators with design, planning, engineering, installation, integration, and operations of various broadband services. So little of this information really exists out there for these people and as a result they become highly dependent on vendors and consultants. Unfortunately, there are perhaps more consultants that would rather sell operators home grown systems than commercial off the shelf (COTS) products than I'd like to see. Well, here is a place operators can go that is free and provides them with the know-how to understand much of this on their own. It will by no means make operators experts, but it will help them make more intelligent decisions down the road.
