Description
Bitterman's Deli began as the crazy idea of owners Benjamin and Shannon Feld and was finally realized in May of 1993. When the couple moved to Santa Barbara they yearned for the scrumptious tastes of their hometown New York deli. However, they could find nothing to satisfy their cravings and immediately recognized the need for such a place here. They knew it would have to be a place with a comfortable atmosphere, great food and be entertaining for their guests. So, they set to work at bringing the New York City Experience to California. What to name this new deli was the great debate for Benjamin and Shannon. The obvious choice, Feld's Deli, just didn't have the pizazz they wanted. They thought of many other names, but none seemed right. The search for a good name actually started to make them feel bitter about the idea. As a matter of fact, the Felds' used the word "bitter" a lot, so much so that someone once called them a family of "bitter men." And that's when they knew they had found the perfect name, and Bitterman's Deli was born. At Bitterman's, our guests are our top priority. The goal has always been to prepare our items fresh daily from the finest ingredients and to offer a sandwich to satisfy everyone.
