Founded in 1973, BLADE Magazine is the oldest knife publication. Originally called American Blade, the magazine debuted as a bimonthly published by Southern House Publishing Co., with Walter "Blackie" Collins becoming both editor and publisher. In 1974, Dr. Jack Marvich took over as publisher and was succeeded in 1975 by Beinfeld Publishing, Inc., owned by Wallace Beinfeld.
