Derek’s focus is to provide clients with the highest-level professional and qualified people who believe in excelling in the client mission space through innovation, attention to detail, and exceptional communication. Prior to starting Blue Glacier, Derek served as a Communications Officer in the United States Air Force where he led software development efforts for Air Force Headquarters' staff, supported two international base commanders in both Japan and Saudi Arabia, and led the development and standup of the Air Education and Training Command's 24x7 Network Operations and Security Center. Derek then joined Veridian, later acquired by General Dynamics Corporation, to lead multiple cyber security programs in the Department of Defense, Department of Treasury, and Department of Homeland Security (DHS). At the DHS, Derek was responsible for establishing and developing the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT) and the Einstein program, which created the foundation for a single cyber security incident response and mitigation focal point for the Federal Government (.gov) and private sector (.com). Derek received his Bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems from Clemson University, a MS in Information Systems Management from George Washington University, and a MBA from the University of North Carolina's Kenan-Flagler Business School.
