Description
Bode Technology has worked with private individuals around the world to provide DNA analysis services. For more than a decade we have worked to educate and apply our DNA services to those that are in need of having samples tested.
Bode Technology is dedicated to maintaining a high quality of our work and the integrity of all samples received for processing. Bode’s quality system is designed to ensure that all Bode services and products meet our primary goal of satisfying customer/client requirements and expectations. When samples arrive at Bode Technology, they are immediately signed into a chain of custody by a member of the evidence management section (EMS) and stored in our secure evidence room.
Mitochondrial DNA is maternally inherited therefore all of the individuals in the maternal lineage of a family (i.e. mother, daughter, sibling) will share the same mitochondrial DNA. MtDNA analysis is used in both forensic and non-forensic cases. MtDNA analysis can be used if an individual is missing or unable to provide a biological sample and a living maternal relative is available to provide the necessary DNA sample for comparison purposes. mtDNA analysis is also used if a biological sample is degraded or has failed to yield enough DNA for nuclear (STR) analysis.
We specialize in performing DNA analysis for a wide array of sample types including very old samples, samples containing minimal amounts of biological material, and severely compromised samples.
Bode has the ability to perform testing utilizing Mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) techniques and is prepared to testify on such cases as needed. Bode has provided mtDNA analysis on approximately 200 cases in 35 states and 6 countries since 1998. During this time, Bode has performed mtDNA analysis on numerous high profile cases, including over 100 cases involving hairs. Bode has recently performed mtDNA analysis for the identification of victims of Hurricane Katrina and is currently providing this service to several casework clients, including the post-conviction efforts of the West Memphis Three.
