Originally opened as Burger Express in 1912 by Otto Burger, Boulder Valley Transfer has a rich and storied history of moving households and businesses in Boulder. Our founder, Otto Burger, with his wife Louisa and their three sons Ralph(1903), Bernard(1916), and Joe(1920). The original vehicle! A spring wagon and the Burger's work horse in 1912. Their other horse was used for commuting and Sunday outings only. The R.E.O. truck, predecessor to the Oldsmobile line, in 1918 in front of the homestead at 1515 7th Street, Boulder, Colorado. Son in law of the founder, Urban Mellecker sits atop his load of trunks in the summer of 1922. Burger's Express cosponsored the Boulder Merchants Baseball Team. This team probably played between 1925 and 1930. Urban Mellecker proudly displaying his latest addition to the fleet, a brand new 1927 Chevy truck.
