AUSTIN, TEXAS — August 2010 — Michael Marin, former Vinson & Elkins partner and past President of the Austin Bar Association, joins the employment law boutique of Boulette & Golden L.L.P. as a partner. In doing so, Boulette & Golden L.L.P. strengthens its highly successful labor and employment law practice and it expands its trial capabilities in the area of Complex Commercial Litigation. A graduate of the Harvard Law School, Marin practiced with Vinson & Elkins LLP from 1994 through 2010, including eight years as a partner, serving as lead counsel on complex commercial litigation and employment litigation matters in federal and state courts across Texas. Michael has successfully handled multiple high-profile cases. In 2005, he argued and secured the complete dismissal of a federal lawsuit seeking $30 million from the then-largest social networking website for claims arising out of the assault of one of the website’s users. He was also on the appellate team that helped preserve the trial court’s ruling in the 5th Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court. In 2008, Marin was the lead lawyer in a multi-defendant employment case and secured summary judgment for an international engineering firm on claims brought by the former Program Manager of the $200 million Austin Clean Water Program. The lawsuit included allegations of tortious interference, defamation, and conspiracy.
