Description

Charles Sydnor has been involved with the beef cattle industry since he was a boy. He spent his summers on the family ranch near Dillon, Montana. Charles began raising beef cattle on Braeburn Farm in 1975. He became interested in grass fed beef in 2000. Braeburn Farm is now in the process of transferring over to an exclusively grass fed cattle herd. The current herd is made up of predominately Angus cattle However, Charles has found that the best breed to finish on grass is the Red Devon from the Rotakawa herd in New Zealand . Many of the best cows on the farm have been bred to Red Devon bulls for two years now. Other cows were used as recipients for embryo transfers, so that five pure Red Devon calves were born in 2004. Fifteen pure Red Devon calves are expected in 2005, with the goal of a pure Red Devon herd within five years.
