Our Family purchased the family farm from Tom's parents in 1984. It is primarily a dairy farm, which has been diversified with a maple sugaring operation since adjoining parcels were purchased to compliment the existing farm and sugar bush. To date the operation taps approximately 32,000 taps with additional taps being generated every year on a recently acquired parcel of land in Bakersfield, VT. Tom is from a large family; so many family members help with the operation of the sugar bush. Two of his brothers also have their own farms and sugar bushes that they work on with their families here in Fairfield. Tom's sister, Ann, helps us tap and works with the horses in the woods. Even though we have grown mainly to a high tech vacuum and pipeline system, we still put out a number buckets and use the horses to gather the sap for the kids and visitors to enjoy.
