Alex Bender is an Audit Partner with Ernst & Young with over 15 years of experience providing assurance and advisory services to technology and life science clients. He has effectively designed and executed integrated audits for multinational clients, including providing detailed analysis and consultations regarding PCAOB regulations, and has extensive experience in public stock and debt offerings, including initial public offerings, business combinations and private placements.

Our mission is two-fold: 1) to provide means for a college-prep experience for students who show consistent affluence in the classroom with a dire passion to learn, who generally lack the means to afford unparalleled learning experiences, and 2) to provide a hands-on teaching experience for college students who aspire to be educators. Hence, our concept of “students teaching students” emerges and the rubber truly meets the road. Much of our ability to accomplish our mission is hinged on the availability of classroom-space The Lovett School has provided since 1996.

Daphne Napoe brings to Breakthrough Collaborative more than 25 years of experience in the accounting and finance sector. In addition to her work as a Staff Accountant for Alcatraz Cruises and as the Interim Accounting Manager for KIPP Bay Area Schools, Daphne has significant experience in the corporate environment, working as an Account Manager for many well-known entertainers, including Tina Turner, Carole King, and Jack Black, among others. Daphne has extensive training in finance, accounting principles, tax law, and computers.

Founded in 1978 in San Francisco as "Summerbridge," Breakthrough Collaborative has served over 40,000 students and teachers in 27 cities.
