In my opinion, a 15-mile per hour leeway sounds pretty generous - and it certainly dispels the image of small-town police officers waiting to pounce on unsuspecting motorists at the smallest infraction. Brice is not New Rome. The Brice Police Department does a wonderful job ensuring the safety of Brice's residents and those who come through our village. They protect those who live here, those who visit the post office and our businesses, and those who travel our narrow roads by car, bicycle and foot. They also protect over 400 children who attend a school and preschool at the southern edge of our village. Critics argue we "are little more than money machines that lack judicial impartiality". We have received several compliments for our courtesy and professionalism in our Mayor's court.
