bright.net is a project of ComNet, Inc., which organized in November of 1993 by 15 Ohio independent telephone companies, and have added 4 more since. ComNet was established to provide Advanced Intelligent Networking (AIN) service for Ohio independents. As part of AIN, ComNet has installed a (mated) pair of signal Transfer points (STP's). In October of 1994 the ComNet board of directors approved a plan to build a state-wide Internet access network with a focus on serving the small communities and rural areas of the state of Ohio...and beyond. bright.net north is a service of the Ridgeville Corners, Farmers Mutual (Okolona) and McClure Telephone Companies.
