Compassion International was founded in 1952 by Rev. Everett Swanson. Rev. Swanson's goal was to provide Korean War orphans with food, shelter, education, health care, and Christian training. Today, Compassion exists as a Christian child advocacy ministry that releases children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults. Compassion helps more than 1.2 million children in 26 countries.
Middle School takes a break from its regular programs over the summer in order to give leaders a break and focus on things like our mission trip. June is off completely in order to prepare for and go on our mission trip. (Students can apply for this trip earlier in the year.) July is typically when we make our grade switch, and we welcome the new 6th graders. So our Wednesday program occurs a few times in July, and then we take a break again until mid-August when we launch programs for the fall semester.
For children with special needs, we provide a qualified volunteer to work with them during Sunday morning activities. This volunteer will provide support as needed while helping to include them in Sunday morning activities.
We provide a safe and loving environment for young children, aged birth to 2 years, in our Nursery, which is located in the lower level of our facility. During Sunday programming, regular learning experiences are planned for the children and reinforced with song and play.
