Mike Mills began BOC as a canoe operation back when the river’s national park designation was brand new and only a few hundred people a year came to explore the upper Buffalo wilderness. Even though establishing a successful business in the middle of nowhere presented a tremendous challenge, Mike was passionate about his dream to make a living doing what he loved most---paddling and hiking the Buffalo River.Today, Buffalo Outdoor Center has grown into a complete lodging and outfitting resort, offering guests a broad variety of outdoor experiences. Our business has grown to include an outstanding lodge, sixteen high quality log cabins, plus, floating, hiking, horseback riding, and hot air ballooning adventures. And, when you think of all the other wonderful things you can do on the Buffalo---cave, backpack, fish, rock climb, watch wildlife, picnic, swim, camp---well, for all these reasons and more you won’t find a finer outdoor destination in mid-America than this place.Our guests come from all over the world, most of whom choose BOC and the Buffalo as a place to find rejuvenation, adventure, and inspiration. While we host people from all walks of life, our primary guests are couples and families. In addition to these most special of guests---our customers and friends like you---we’re also fortunate to frequently host journalists, television hosts, movie companies, and other media people writing or filming stories about BOC or the Buffalo River. Our national media guests have included such respected entities as Southern Living, ESPN and ESPN2, Disney, National Geographic, and the New York Times. However, just as important as these are the many, many Arkansas media people who share their talent and story space with us. We can’t thank them enough for the tremendous job they do of telling the Buffalo’s story, as well as our own.
