Description

She is a skilled brick, block, and stone mason with an M.S. and Ph.D. in civil engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and an M.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Colorado. Before graduate school, she spent five years providing engineering consulting services at Peterson Consulting in Chicago and Dames & Moore in Denver. She has lectured on sustainable, disaster-resistant construction in 11 countries and served on the 2002-2003 US National Research Council Committee to develop a long-term research agenda for earthquake engineering.

Erwin A.K. Guciano has been actively making a living as a builder for over 10 years. Unlike many builders in the area who don't have a formal background in construction, Erwin graduated from two universities in Lampung with a diploma in civil engineering. He is technically skilled in construction, both from college and experience.

Lakay Weekly discusses how Build Change has worked with homeowners, Haiti's Ministry of Public Works and partner organizations and provided technical assistance to help families in Haiti retrofit or build new 1,100 earthquake-resistant homes. This group of experienced engineers collectively represents over 12 years of experience in implementing Build Change projects in Haiti. The engineering Team Leaders/Construction Trainers are responsible for many aspects of our projects in Haiti. They communicate with our clients, the communities, the homeowners and the bosses to help coordinate our projects with the people they serve.

Build Change was incorporated in the State of California on September 2, 2004. We later changed our name to Build Change.
