Dream: A condition or achievement that is longed for; an aspiration The holidays are a time of new beginnings for many of us. We dream of all the goals that we plan to accomplish for the following year. Yet for many families, the holidays are a time of grief and lost dreams. With the current climate of violence for our youth, many families are losing loved ones and the dreams they had for their future. BUILD Incorporated works to improve the current climate and BUILD the dreams of our youth. BUILD's mission is to "To engage at-risk youth in the schools and on the streets so they can realize their educational and career potential and contribute to the stability, safety and well being of our communities." Below are quotes from our youth that show how BUILD Incorporated has improved their lives: Roger, 16: At the age of 14, Roger was involved in gangs and getting into fights at home, school and on the streets. With the help of Mac and other professionals at BUILD, Roger is now earning A's and B's in school, stays away from gangs, and plays basketball. Roger says that BUILD has been a big help in his life, "BUILD keeps me out of trouble, there is always someone to talk to, something to do." Roger dreams of becoming an attorney one day. Asia, 20: When Asia was 17, she suffered the loss of her grandfather. The experience was traumatic and during the grieving process, Asia fell into an abusive relationship. With the help BUILD, Asia was able to leave the relationship. Now a freshman at Harold Washington College, she dreams of becoming a Homicide Detective. When talking about BUILD, Asia says, "They became my family." The generous contributions of our donors have improved the lives of Roger and Asia, as well as others during our 40 years of service.
