Richard Piccolo, the president of B & F Technical Code Services, Incorporated, founded the Building & Fire Code Academy. A certified instructor, Mr. Piccolo has taught training seminars nationwide in all the model building codes and served as adjunct faculty at William Rainey Harper College for a number of years. With that type of expertise, it became obvious the next area of growth should come from providing training and continuing education for professionals in code-related careers. B & F Technical Code Services had been providing education and training to the code enforcement industry for several years when, in 2000, Mr. Piccolo committed the training services to a subsidiary company, the Building & Fire Code Academy. Today, BFCA teaches classes pertaining to the International Codes, the Illinois Plumbing Code, the National Electrical Code, the Life Safety Code and legal aspects of code administration. Both B & F Technical Code Services, Incorporated, and BFCA are located at 2401 W. Hassell Road, Suite 1550 in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. The mission of the Building & Fire Code Academy is to provide comprehensive and practical education in the administration, application and enforcement of building and fire codes.
