Description

The beginnings of the Burkett Companies go back to the early 1980's when its founder, Charles W. Burkett, began purchasing investment properties on Miami Beach. Miami Beach at the time offered a multitude of development opportunities. Miami Beach had been allowed to deteriorate to the point that once charming apartment buildings with beautiful wood floors, classic art deco features and other terrific lineaments were torn down or boarded up. Charles joined a small group of pioneers willing to risk capital and limb in undertaking historic renovations pursuant to strict government guidelines. These humble beginnings resulted in what we now have come to know as the world renowned Art Deco District in fabulous South Beach. Charles has since that time purchased and renovated almost twenty projects. These projects range in size and type from a single family home to a 21,000 sq. ft. multi-family apartment building and vacant land suited for a vineyard to a large commercial office building.
