Description
e-Commerce Curriculum Now Available In response to the continuing growth of e-commerce and e-business, along with the exponential expansion of technological applications in business, marketing and entrepreneurship, the California Department of Education, High School Initiatives Office, and the Mark-ED Resource Center are pleased to announce the release of a new e-commerce curriculum for business, marketing and entrepreneurship education. The curriculum is a joint venture between 15 State Departments of Education and the Mark-ED Resource Center/Career Pathways Consortium. The curricula and instructional modules are intended to provide strong foundations and broad design and operational skills required for professional positions in an e-business environment. In addition, the curriculum provides specialized competencies that are integral to the development of an e-commerce application, but with only basic attention to the technology itself. The curriculum identifies enough technology for a business student to speak intelligently about the company's needs, but without turning the course into a programming/design course. The California Department of Education's participation in the Mark-ED/Career Path Consortium and Phase I of the recently completed e-commerce project make possible a deep discount for the following instructional materials: : The e-Commerce Curriculum Guide provides a suggested model for organizing an e-commerce course. It describes the purpose and goals of the course, and identifies specific outcomes to be achieved. In addition, the guide defines the content of the e-commerce course by identifying performance indicators, objectives, sample activities, and resources. The performance indicators included in the guide provide an introduction to the marketing aspects of e-commerce, a review of technological tools, and an opportunity to design a web site. They have been cross-referenced with the competencies and skills in SCANS.
