From investments and trust administration services to complete financial planning, the management of personal trusts and estates, investment management accounts, employee benefit accounts, and charitable trusts and foundations in 10 yearsIt was 10 years ago next month that Jim Sisek, President of Butler Wick Trust Company, had lunch with Tom Cavalier, President of Butler Wick Corp., to discuss the need for such an investment entity in the Mahoning Valley. Prior to the consolidation of the brokerage and banking industries, the community had enjoyed a wide variety of financial institutions managed at the local level and focusing on personal relationships. Those relationships and individual attention had given way to mass managed accounts, 1-800 numbers, and out of town committees. An opportunity existed, and Sisek and Cavalier decided to form a new corporation focused on personal financial services. Sisek says, “The reason Butler Wick Trust Company has grown and thrived is because we did what we said we would do. We have hired the best talent and most experienced officers and employees in the local community who believe in providing the very best in quality, personal service.”Originally incorporated in Pennsylvania in 1995, Butler Wick Trust Company was reincorporated in the State of Ohio as a state-chartered bank authorized to conduct a trust business when Ohio amended its banking laws in 1998. A subsidiary of Butler Wick Corp., sister corporation of the Home Savings & Loan Company, Butler Wick Trust Company began at square one with all policies, procedures, and forms created from scratch. The original team included Jim Sisek, Kathy Brown, Becky Mottram, David Owen, Bill Weber, and Linda Marzullo, as well as Mrs. Dorothy Beadling Todd whose father was an original partner in Butler Beadling & Co., the predecessor to Butler Wick & Co. As the business grew, Butler Wick Trust Company established its own Operations Department, and added an Employee Benefits Department, Tax Department and Business Development/ Marketing Department. Today, with an office in City Centre One in Youngstown, and an office in Howland under the leadership of Bill Hanshaw, the Company has 25 full time employees including four attorneys, four investment officers, three certified trust specialists, two employee benefits analysts, and two tax specialists.
